Realistic Expectations

Set goals that are challenging yet attainable within a reasonable timeframe. Be honest with yourself about your current skill level and the amount of time you can realistically dedicate to practice. Setting overly ambitious goals can lead to frustration and burnout, while setting goals that are too easy may not provide enough motivation for growth.

Once you begin the journey of journaling (your vision, objectives, goals, ideas, music practice times), you’ll get an idea for how much time you have and how much you want to dedicate. You can always adjust these practice times, goals, etc. I find the more I progress musically, the more I feel like making time for even more music!

It is called ‘playing music’ for a reason. Don’t lose the fun of it. Happy learning!
